Who Am I
My name is David Davenport. I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Brigham Young University. I am currently in the Masters program for Sign language teaching at Gallaudet University. My passion for teaching began when I was a junior in high school. My Deaf sister and I taught ASL classes as a service to the community. Since that time, I have spent over fourteen years teaching ASL to a variety of students. I have taught different universities and colleges including University of Utah, Salt Lake Community College, Utah Valley University, and Brigham Young University. Currently, along with teaching, I work as an ASL specialist at the Utah School for the Deaf and Blind. I have been using ASL my whole life and am very creative in ASL storytelling. On a personal level, I live in Salt Lake City, Utah with my wife, Chrystee and our five ‘children’, two dogs and three cats. I enjoy socializing, playing sports, biking, snowboarding, and remodeling.
